19th Century Longwy Cloisonné Spice Jar, Signed (France; late 1800's)
Victorian-era enamel cloisonné ceramic spice jar, handpainted and signed by the artist. This is from Longwy Enamels/Potters, established in 1798. Cerulean blue, ivory, rose, and marigold hues make up the gorgeous handpainted enamel floral design. We typically find these as salt and pepper shakers but the silver metal top on this piece is a bit different- perhaps for sugar or another condiment. Signed by the maker on the base, as pictured. A rare find!
