My name is Abigail Nelson, and I am the founder of Monstera Vintage Decor.

I come from a long line of thrifters and antique-lovers. As a kid, I loved accompanying my grandmother, Dorothy, to Salvation Army (or Sally’s as we called it), flea markets, and yard sales.

I loved the hunt and satisfaction of finding that perfect piece. Dorothy’s parents, my great grandparents, were self-made antique dealers.

That’s me on the far left, hanging out with my mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother at their store in Searsport, Maine. It’s in my blood.

I spent a decade in NYC and had a short stay in rural Vermont before returning to my home-state of Maine, where I now live happily with my dog-like cat, Prudence, and my actual dog, Freya.

Every chance I get, I am searching for amazing vintage finds up and down the coast of Maine (sometimes New Hampshire & Massachusetts)!

Each piece in our shop is intentionally selected - If I don’t personally love it, then it doesn’t make the cut.

We are eclectic: kitschy and refined, utilitarian and whimsical. We have particular soft spots for mid-century wood, all the brass, and vintage barware. Thank you for visiting and we hope you love what you find!
