Antique Oil on Canvas of Whitehead Cliff, Cushing Island, ME (signed, 1898)
Striking oil on stretched canvas depicting Whitehead Cliff, Cushing Island, in Casco Bay, Maine. If you're from the area, you may recognize the wind-carved profile of a face on the cliffs, as is easily seen from Peaks Island. Signed: "W.H. Winslow" on the bottom right corner. On verso, is handwritten on the frame: "White head, 1898." We weren't able to locate information on the artist but this is extremely well-done. This was placed into a more "modern" frame at some point and we are guessing this lemon-gold one is closer to the midcentury. The painting has been professionally repaired in one spot near the bottom left corner, with a canvas "patch." It is unnoticeable from the front. Overall excellent condition for over 125 years-old.
Dimensions [frame is 19" across x 13" high x 1" thick; painting is 15.5" across x 10" high]
