Sheraton McAlpin Hotel Cocktail Spoon and Vintage Postcard (1950's)
An incredible set! When the Sheraton McAlpin Hotel was built in 1912, it was the biggest hotel in the WORLD! It still stands at the corner of Broadway and 34th Street in NYC and is now an apartment building called Herald Towers. Also, Jackie Robinson used to live there! The cocktail spoon is in great condition, with the hotel name engraved on the handle and nice flower detail on the spoon itself.
On the back of the postcard it reads: 1500 rooms with bath and radio…some with television (now being remodeled and air-conditioned). Close to Penn. Station, both airline terminals…B & O buses stop at door…Subway at entrance…same block as Empire State Building…Big department stores right at hand…Times Square, Theaters, United Nations, Radio City are easily accessible. NOW A SHERATON HOTEL…with all that means in the way of smoother service and smarter decor.
[Dimensions: spoon is roughly 8” long]
