19th Century Vermont Marble Company Salesman's Kit with Samples
Museum quality Vermont Marble Company salesman’s kit, complete with labeled samples (specific quarry + color), dated to the 1890’s. Vermont Marble Company (1860-1913), based in Rutland, was a premier marble manufacturer through the turn of century and contributed to several major U.S. landmarks, including the pillars of today’s Supreme Court building. Not all samples are labeled and there is one broken, as shown. Overall, the condition is quite remarkable. Box appears to be wood with a textile-like covering.
Dimensions [box is 9.25” long x 5” wide; individual samples are approx. 4” × 3”]
