Victorian-era chromo lithograph, featuring a young girl tending to apparently ill + anthropomorphized pups. Designed by physician, E.B. Foote + titled, “Throw Physic to the Dogs” (a reference to Shakespeare’s Macbeth). More about the genesis of the piece on verso. Victorian-era mahogany frame with gold interior border. Handwritten on verso, “June 25, 1873.” Sold by B.R. Sturces publishers of Boston. Condition is good overall, considering age, with some spotting on print and wear to frame, as shown.
