Original Oil Painting, Signed "Stavros" (30" x 24.5")
This stunning original oil painting on canvas is impressionist in style and depicts a cottage with a stone chimney amidst birch and other leafy trees. The colors are striking and the composition complex- if you look closely, you can see how each brush stroke and paint choice bring the scene into focus. It’s hard to describe in words but it has a calm sereneness to it- as if you can feel the grass with your feet and feel the sun peeking through the tall trees. We just love it and know you will, too!
While undated, this has age to it, which we can tell by the condition of the canvas and the hardware/tacks used to secure it to the frame. The artist, “Stavros” signed the bottom right corner, however we have not been able to determine who the artist is/if it is a known or listed artist. Please note some crackling in the paint on the bottom left and areas along the frame where the canvas needs to be re-secured. Overall, this piece is in good condition and ready to display. Handwritten on the back is: PA Thomson Sm, which we assume may have been a previous owner of the painting (?).
