Antique Marble Statue by J & T Bevington (England, 1800's)
James and Thomas Bevington produced statues/busts made of Parian (a fine white marble from Paros, Greece) in Hanley & Stoke-on-Trent, England, areas known for producing fine pottery. Their business was in operation from 1865 to the mid-1870’s. This statuette, appearing to be a cherub draped in cloth, is signed on the base: “J & TB 262.” It is in shockingly excellent condition, given its age. An old price tag remains on the base, “$175.”
Dimensions [10.5” tall x 4.25” diameter on base x roughly 4” wide/deep]
