Designed to discretely hide valuables, this wooden box looks like Tolstoy’s tome, War and Peace, on the outside. On the inside it has a deep burgundy velvet-like lining. The wood is slightly pebbled to mimic the texture of leather. Overall great condition with some patina along the gilded fore-edge or “pages.”
