Couroc Tray with Two Cats- Rare Design!
Vintage Couroc black phenolic resin tray. Midcentury, made in Monterey, CA. Hand inlaid by master craftsmen, shells, coins, woods and metals are fused into Couroc's famous satin black material, which is impervious to alcohol, boiling water and cigarette burns. These were sold at high-end department stores before the company closed in the 90’s. We love to use these gorgeous works of art as wall decor. You can pick up a “plate hanger” at any hardware store and you’re good to go!
This piece is one of the more rare designs and depicts two cats. It appears that brass and wood was used in the design. Excellent condition with very minimal signs of wear. Signed on verso.
