Blue Guilloche & Sterling Silver Dresser Box (early 20th century)
The cobalt blue color on this sterling silver trinket box is absolutely stunning. This is a fine example of guilloche technique, where enamel is applied over engraved metal and then polished to an exquisite level of shine. The body of the trinket box is sterling silver, as indicated by the signed “925 S” on the base. There is also what appears to me a maker’s mark, but we cannot make it out. This is attributed to the late 1920’s or 1930’s. Excellent vintage condition, with some patina and scratching on the interior metal and base, but minimal apparent blemishes to the enamel itself. A truly special and one-of-a-kind piece.
Dimensions [3.25 tall with lid; 1.5” deep without lid; 4” diameter when closed and 3” diameter at opening]
