Framed hand-tinted photograph of Crawford Notch (White Mountains of NH) by famous Maine photographer, J.C. Bicknell (1871-1956). Bicknell was one of Maine’s most well-known photographers in the early 20th century. He founded the Bicknell Picture Co. in 1903 in Portland, ME. His work is highly collectible as is those of his contemporaries, Charles Sawyer and Wallace Nutting (also with Maine ties).
This is a beautiful snapshot of a landscape in Crawford Notch, with a brook in the foreground and the White Mountains in the background. It is signed by the artist on the bottom right along with the title “Crawford Notch” on the bottom left. There is wear on the print, as pictured.
