Brass Elephant "Drumbo" Paperweight by Luigi Colani

$115.00
Sold

Extremely rare find! This brass elephant paperweight is attributed to German designer, Luigi Colani. It is modeled after plastic coin banks, called “Drumbo,” and and distributed to children opening savings accounts at Dresden Bank (Germany) in the 1970’s. Some patina, but could be polished up easily, if desired.

These paperweights, which (from our research) were not made available to the “public,” would have been gifted to Dresden Bank board members and higher-ups, etc. As such, they are rare to find. Luigi Colani was a famous German industrial designer, who designed cars for Fiat, VW, BMW, and Alfa Romeo in the midcentury. Unsigned.

Dimensions [2” high x 2.5” long x 1.5” wide]
